Mike Stroope

Mike Stroope1. How does your role at Restore Hope help churches on mission?

As one who writes and edits Panorama, conducts training, and consults for Restore Hope, I hope to prepare church leaders and to help them imagine how their churches can be involved in service and witness around the world.

2. What qualifies you to play the role you play for Restore Hope?

I served with a mission agency for 21 years in a number of roles — most of them overseas.

I currently teach missions in a seminary, so I am studying about the topic every day of my life.

I love the local church and believe in her.

3. If you have another job besides Restore Hope, what is your title and what do you do?

I am the M. C. Shook Associate Professor of Christian Missions at George W. Truett Theological Seminary, Baylor University.

4. What do you like to do in your spare time?

I grow lavender, hike, and play with my four grandchildren.

5. What is your favorite missions quote?

“The Church exists by mission, just as fire exists by burning. Where there is no mission, there is no Church; and where there is neither Church nor mission, there is no faith.” — Emil Brunner, The Word and the World, London: SCM, 1931, p. 108.
